Itinerary: The Midnight Blue Fire Trek

12:00 AM – 01:00 AM: The Midnight Call

• Private pickup from your hotel in Banyuwangi (or transfer from Bali).
• Arrival at Paltuding, the base of Mount Ijen.
• Technical Briefing: Distribution of professional-grade gas masks, headlamps, and trekking poles.

02:00 AM – 03:30 AM: The Ascent

• The Trek: A 3-kilometer uphill hike. The first 2 kilometers are a steady incline on a wide sandy path, followed by a flatter terrain leading to the crater rim.
• Experience the starlit sky and the cool mountain air of East Java.

03:30 AM – 05:00 AM: The Blue Fire & The Crater Floor

• The Descent: A technical climb down into the crater (approx. 300 meters) via a rocky path used by sulfur miners.
• The Phenomenon: Witness the Blue Fire, caused by the combustion of sulfuric gases at temperatures up to 600°C.
• Observe the sulfur miners carrying up to 80kg of rock on their shoulders—a testament to human endurance.

05:30 AM – 07:00 AM: The Turquoise Sunrise

• Ascend back to the crater rim for sunrise.
• The View: Watch the sun illuminate the acidic turquoise lake and the surrounding jagged peaks of the Ijen-Merapi volcanic complex.
• Photography session at the “Social Media Tree” and various scenic rim points.

08:00 AM – 09:30 AM: The Descent & Recovery

• Easy hike back down to Paltuding.
• Visit the local sulfur weighing station.
• Breakfast/Coffee break at the basecamp.

10:30 AM: Return Journey

• Optional stop at Jagir Waterfall for a refreshing dip or a visit to the local coffee and rubber plantations.
• Private transfer back to your hotel or the ferry terminal. End of Expedition.
