Baluran National Park Cycling Journey

Java’s Wild Savannah by the Sea

Often called “The Little Africa of Java,” Baluran National Park offers a rare landscape unlike anywhere else in Indonesia. Located on the eastern tip of East Java, this protected area stretches from vast golden savannahs to dense monsoon forests and pristine coastal lines, creating a dramatic natural stage for outdoor exploration.

Baluran is home to free-roaming wildlife such as banteng, deer, long-tailed macaques, and dozens of bird species, all living within a backdrop of Mount Baluran’s volcanic silhouette. The park’s iconic Savana Bekol opens wide horizons, especially striking in the dry season, while shaded forest corridors and coastal paths toward Bama Beach offer cooler, more intimate encounters with nature.

For active travelers and cycling enthusiasts, Baluran presents a unique balance: wide open terrain for scenic rides, quiet roads with minimal traffic, and immersive nature at every turn. The experience is not about speed, but about presence, riding through raw landscapes, pausing to observe wildlife, feeling the shift from savannah heat to sea breeze.

Baluran is ideal for those seeking a deeper connection with nature, where adventure, conservation, and serenity meet. Whether explored as a group, a couple, or a private journey, Baluran delivers an authentic sense of Indonesia’s untamed beauty, making it a standout destination for nature-based and sport-focused travel experiences.
